Special projects differ from both the Core Business and Traditional Mechanical and Electrical Contracting Divisions.
This WSSwift division is born out of the desire of clients, designers, and consultants to explore those projects not so easily realised, via the traditional and design and build procurement routes.
Frequently this will be because the delivery of a project cannot be easily realised in a live/occupied building or because spatial, logistical, program and technical constraints need to be considered by a team proven in delivering those projects considered by others and undeliverable.
The division regularly provides surveying and validation services to clients and principal designers looking to meet their preconstruction obligations, and generally delivers as the principal contractor engaging other specialist to realise a turn key solution to complex project.
Special projects draw from the most experienced management and technical staff within the WSSwift organisation.
This decarbonisation project in central London for Derwent London delivered a complete transformation of the building's heating, cooling, and control systems to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
The existing chillers and gas-fired boilers were replaced with a combination of high-efficiency Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) and Water Source Heat Pumps (WSHPs), providing low-carbon space cooling and heating throughout the building.
The works also included significant electrical infrastructure upgrades to support the new plant, alongside the installation of a fully integrated Building Management System (BMS), providing enhanced control, monitoring, and optimisation of the building's mechanical and electrical services.
